Welsh Music Prize – Truckers of Husk on the shortlist.
The Welsh Music Prize was created in 2011 by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens and festival promoter and music industry expert John Rostronmusic its aim is to showcase the best new music coming out of the area each year, much in the same vain as the Mercury Music Prize.
We are pleased to say our very own Truckers of Husk have made it onto the short list of 12 albums along side internationally recognised artists such at Los Campesinos, Kids in Glass Houses and Cate Le Bon.
With a panel of around 100 expert judges, this is a great step for Truckers of Husk and their debut album ‘Accelerated Learning’.
Here’s a little of what The Welsh music prize has to say on the album itself.
“Accelerated Learning is a collection of songs written and recorded over a two year period by all members of Truckers of Husk, but also includes spots by Ben James the topless saxophonist, Chris Collins, Wal Coughlan, Ben Woods, Jimmy Cello, Steven Combs, Heddwyn Davies, Mary Haggerty and Iwan Williams.
While Truckers are known for live performances, which are often instinctive, loud, physical…Accelerated Learning was always intended to be a more structured and thought-out album.”
